Pardon me my ardent fans of my blog....Finally decided to blog about my Taiwan Trip.. this is the 1st part of Day 5.
Day 5- Kaohsiung - Taipei - 13 May 2006 (Saturday)
A day before Mother's Day...Woke up in the nice hotel room. Got ready and went down for breakfast. The breakfast spread was so much better compared to the previous 2 days. The spread was nice with western style. Nice nice...yummy! After the breakfast, went to get packed and ready for our trip for the day. We were to make a trip to Taipei, that would take us at least 4 hours of bus ride. Before that our tour guide promised to pass by some 槟榔 stalls and get those 槟榔妹 to pose with us. So the bus started travelling along this stretch and the driver was hunting for a stall that have sexy dressing 槟榔妹. He went down the stretch & reported that there werent any for that day. The tour guide then told the driver to make a U-turn to go to 1 of the stalls to try our luck. So we ended up at this stall. The tour guide requested for the 槟榔妹 to pose with us. So all of us started to queue in the bus to take photo with her. After that, we continued our journey to Taipei. It was a few hours of ride, while we were travelling, some of us decided to start doing a ktv session. The group of malaysians began to select their songs carefully out of the files. The bus driver took the initiative to start off with a hokkien song, followed by the tour guide singing a Theresa Teng classic. Soon...the ktv session kicked off. Songs such as 爱你十分泪七分, 原来你什么都不想要, 勇气, 我只在呼你, etc were sang by the enthu k fans. I sang along for songs that i know..hahaha... spolit the songs for all i care. But i must admit the songs got me tempted to go for a round of ktv session when i m back in Singapore.
As soon as we reached Taipei, they brought us to this museum showing the history & culture of Taiwan, which showed a range of antiques. Before we enter the museum, we took a mass group photo. The place was super crowded with tourists and there were this rather young couple who kept sticking to our group & didnt seem to be interested in what our tour guide was explaining. In fact, they were behaving so suspiciously that i was suspecting that they could be pickpockets & one of them was eyeing at my dad's bag!!! I kept quiet & sliently stared at the 2 of them to see if they were up to any funny biz. After which, i told my mother & she too got super alert and quietly warned my dad. Soon, the couple knew that we were watching, they sliently left the group. The museum was suituated opposite this apartment building that according to our tour guide, it was one of the luxurious apartments in taipei and command high rental and sale price. Only who's who get to buy a unit there. (Sounds like our 4 seasons)
After the tour, we went to this lucky charm place whereby it was about fengshui. The fengshui master then talked about name analysis in terms of the strokes of each chinese character. After a long lesson, he finally offered to help us to analyse our names for free (erm.not actually free, you'll feel guilty wasting his time that u'll end up buy something from him) hahah. We had our names analyzed and he was very accurate in terms of our character. Hope he's accurate in terms of our future. Some of us were waiting for the rest and decided to go out of the shop & wait by the bus. A nun passed by & started cursing & swearing at our bus. When she saw us, she raised her voice & shouted that she was blocked by the bus and alighted at the wrong stop. Then, she continued and threaten to call the police if we do not get the person-in-charge to move the bus. We kept quiet as we didnt want to offend a nun. So all of us proceeded back into the shop. But the nun followed! and shouted at us again! Our tour guide asked her what was going on, & she was still shouting at him. Previously, the tour guide had already quarrelled with 2 times, the nun offended him till he raised his voice & quarrelled with him.. haha..the Fengshui master's assistant had to separate them apart to prevent any more arguments.
Finally, the commotion was over and we got back on the bus. The tour guide was rattling on about the unreasonable nun. And told us that there was this temple in Taiwan that was so rich & unconventional that they had security guards 24/7 and 7-eleven. Woohoo! something new!
The next destination was checking into our hotel that we were going to stay for 2 nites at Taipei- Qin Tai Fan Dian. The tour guide informed me that my taiwanese friend would be reaching the hotel to meet me in 10 minutes time. I was so excited! I finally can meet Catherine after 7 years! Yes! Catherine was my secondary school classmate, she left for London to study her As, degree and masters before flying back to Taiwan. Ever since she left Singapore, i didnt get to meet her in person. However, with the power of advanced technology, we got to chat online and arranged to meet if it fits her schedule.
When we alighted from the bus, i started scanning the entire lobby and saw this rather familiar face looking at me. It took me a few seconds before i realized that it was CATHERINE!!! I went up to her & started the crap of "hey....you look so different..blahblahblah" Then we started a chat, talking about her looking so different, getting prettier, etc. However, good times always end fast. She told me she had to catch the last train back to Taichung which was at about 8pm and it was already 7.15pm. The tour guide has told us that he will be brining us to xi men ding and he even offered to give Catherine a lift to the train station. The rest of the tour group kept staring at Cat when she boarded the bus. Stare what stare man! Never see a pretty lady before? Anyway, after we dropped off Cat, we went on to our journey to xi men ding.
