Back from Taiwan

I did a disappearance act for at least a week. Went to Taiwan for my deserved vacation after 9 months of non-stop crap from work. Had a great trip! Met up with my sec sch friend- Cat for a mere 15mins but i was very happy and touched that she travelled all the way from tai chung to taipei to meet me. Thanx Girl! Please do drop by Singapore when you are free.

Some friends have asked me to blog about my Taiwan trip, but i havent had the time or energy.
Sorry guys! Please wait patiently while i try to recall what happened from day 1 to day 7.

Day 1: Singapore - Taipei - 9 May 2006 (Tuesday)

Woke up at 3am to get myself prepared for the journey to Changi Airport to catch the flight to Taiwan. My mother was so kiasu that she juz have to get everyone up before 4am and everyone ready by 5am. We went down to wait for our cab that I booked the night before. IT turned out the cab didnt arrive in time & when i called up the cab booking operator, he couldnt locate the cab and have to re-despatch another cab over. This means i save the booking fee of $5.20 cos of their error.

Reached Changi Airport at about 5.45am and waited for the travel agent to assist us in checking in our luggage. When we got everything done, we went to Mcdonald's for breakfast! At about 8 something the flight finally took off and we were on our way to Taiwan!

During the flight, i was watching Matchpoint! Brokeback Mountain was also showing at the same time. But i preferred Matchpoint cos there were 2 cute actors in the movie. The plot was rather scandalous (something that i always like).

We reached the Airport at about 11 close to 12pm. Was at the customs, the custom officer was looking at my passport and asked me "do you have the latest photo of you in ur passport"? Was so embarrassed! haha..he cant recognise the JC me and the me standing in front of him. Luckily there was a recent photo that was taken last year in the passport. Phew! can you imagine if he doesnt let me go thru? argh!

1st destination was to 大溪花海农场, which was the filming site for 我的秘密花园 2. First, we ate the milk steamboat! Is a steamboat whereby the base soup is milk and inside the soup they have tofu, veggie, some dumpling and they serve aside a bowl of rice, some seafood, vermicelli, etc. It wasnt very fantastic, it was ok only. After the lunch, we went to visit the place full of lavender and other flowers. Took quite a number of photos of the place. Ohh! there was something rather interesting, they have this DIY cotton candy making machine. Took a photo of that too!

Next off we went to Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall for a history lesson. Wow! the compound is huge! The tour guide was explaining about Chiang Kai Shek, i was almost falling asleep. *gulity* Probably because he was explaining in mandarin and i dont understand history in mandarin. heee..

It was evening time, and we were brought to 士林夜市, where it is one of the famous taipei night market that sells lots of their local snacks. It was evening time, and the entire place was packed with taiwanese and tourists. Tried their 豪大大鸡排, the queue was quite long, but the service was fast! YUMMY!!! Went to buy their bubble tea to drink too. After which we move on to try other local snacks! delicious! As i am typing these all, how i wish i was in taiwan now!

After the visit, we went to our first hotel stay for the trip. We were brought to Howard Hotel at Green Bay. The hotel is a 5-star hotel which looks rather comfy & they actually have computer & internet portal for rent. When we went back to our room, i was practically playing with the tv remote control, looking for interesting channels to watch. Settled on the drama tv channel, and watched 意难忘. Went to bed at about 2am.

Alright..thats day 1..shall talk abt day 2 in my next blog....
